Our Trustees

As trustees we recognise how important it is to raise awareness of the charity and strive to have a presence at local community events to help spread the word. We work voluntarily planning and hosting our own fundraising events, actively seek mutually beneficial corporate partnerships and provide support to our loyal supporters and fundraiser’s.

Mike Barringer - Sophie's Daddy

I am one of the founders of the charity and immensely proud to be part of the team that creates the magic that is Sophie’s Appeal. Whilst I might make the odd appearance, I am far more comfortable working behind the scenes helping keep the wheels oiled and helping families escape the stresses and strains of hospital life.

I became aware of Sophie’s Appeal when my Son told me he was doing a sponsored skydive for them and I soon realised Sophie was the little girl I’d seen as a Saints Mascot a few years before. I offered my support with fundraising initially, becoming a trustee in February 2016 and was invited to take on the role as Chairman at the start of 2022. I was very happy to accept and feel very privileged to be part of such a great team and to play a small part in the work that we do.

I first heard of Sophie’s Appeal when they made a shout out for hairdressers & nail technicians via their social media, to go to Piam Brown once a month & offer ‘pamper evenings’ for the parents. I have been lucky enough to attend several of the charity’s events & really enjoy trying to think of new fundraising ideas to keep the donations coming in so the charity can continue.
